PREVIOUS YEAR SOURCES OF CLAT CURRENT AFFAIRS

Dear aspirants, Current Affairs section is what students find the most intriguing section of CLAT. So many sources to gather information from, but we mostly are confused of which information is relevant and which is off the CLAT limits.

Here, we will be analyzing the past year papers to understand from what all sources was the questions made from.

2021:

Students came across a variety of topics, which included a mix of well-known topics such as COVID-19 and also topics such as regular ports and shipment articles.

  • On China/LAC/Ladakh issue: The Hindu editorial
  • On COVID-19: General article
  • On Human Rights AND United Nations: Indian Express
  • UNESCO: Indian Express
  • PM’s Bangladesh visit: TOI editorial
  • MEA- ports and shipment: MEA website

2022:

This year, the passages were taken from many different and prestigious newspaper columns. Students were presumed to come with holistic knowledge of the happenings across the globe.

  • ISRO and space related questions
  • AFSPA: Considered to be pretty hot topic, taken from The Hindu article
  • Russia-Ukraine: Well-known geo-political issue, taken from The Hindu article
  • Green Technology: Times Of India
  • Corporate Social Responsibility: The Economic Times

2023:

The Current Affairs passages for this year were on a moderate to difficult side with questions as easy as the President of India that also extends till the AI and crypto based questions.

  • Droupadi Murmu was elected the 15th President of India : The Hindu
  • AI chatbot and ChatGPT : Taken from Scientific American
  • FIFA world cup : Taken from The Economic Times
  • CryptoCurreny : Hindustan Times
  • General Geographical questions :The Economic Times

2024:

This year, surprisingly, the Current Affairs passages were on extremely easier side and could be solved just by reading the passages. It required more of Reading Comprehension skills and the general awareness was relatively not tested.

  • Jallianwala Bagh Massacre: Extracted from an MP’s speech
  • Israel Palestine issue : The most wide known Geo-political topic of that time, taken from Indian Express
  • Chandrayaan and ISRO : PM’s Speech
  • G20 summit: Conducted in India, it was considered as the most prevalent and important topic of that year
  • Constitution of India : BR Ambedkar’s addressal

Observing the PYQ’s we get to know certain repetitive elements that include, every year occurrence of one Geo-Political issue, presence of articles from The Hindu and The Indian Express, One topic which is not very much in news.

We can now easily conclude that one cannot take a toll on newspaper reading, as they are the primary source of almost all the passages. One can keep a track of worldwide hot topics along with schemes and programmes announced by the Government.

Team CLATED wishes you all the Luck for CLAT 2025.
